Medicare Plans in Colorado

Medicare is federal health insurance for people 65 and older and some younger people with disabilities. Original Medicare (Parts A and B) covers hospital and medical care. Most people then add either a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare Supplement plus a Part D drug plan.

Medicare has four main parts, several enrollment windows and dozens of plan choices in most Colorado counties. Choosing well the first time matters, because some decisions (like buying a Medigap plan without health questions) are easiest during your initial enrollment.

As local Westminster brokers, we help Coloradans turning 65, people retiring from employer coverage, and current Medicare members who want to review their plan each fall, all at no cost to you.

What It Costs

Most people pay no premium for Part A. Part B has a standard monthly premium set each year. Medicare Advantage plans can be as low as $0, while Medicare Supplement plans cost more monthly in exchange for more predictable out-of-pocket costs.

Medicare FAQs

Part A covers hospital care, Part B covers doctor visits and outpatient care, Part C (Medicare Advantage) is an all-in-one private plan alternative to Original Medicare, and Part D covers prescription drugs.

Not always. If you or your spouse are still working and covered by an employer plan from a company with 20 or more employees, you can often delay Part B without a penalty. Otherwise, enroll during your 7-month Initial Enrollment Period.

Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare with a private plan that often has low premiums, networks and extra benefits. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare, lets you see any provider that accepts Medicare, and covers most out-of-pocket costs for a monthly premium.

No. Medicare brokers are paid by the insurance companies, and plan premiums are the same whether you enroll with a broker or directly.
